Hands by Thermage™
Hands by Thermage is a non-invasive treatment that uses radio waves to reduce the appearance of wrinkles on the surface of the hands, particularly the backs of hands, and encourage collagen production in deeper layers of the skin. Hands by Thermage treatments are almost painless and require no recovery period, so you can immediately move on with your day. The treatment requires only one office visit, and your hands will continue to look better for several months. Thermage® is also FDA-approved for use as a non-surgical facelift .

How Does The Treatment Work?
The treatment uses radiofrequency to reach underneath your skin, treating wrinkles from the inside out. Your skin is actually made up of three layers: the outer layer that you see (called the epidermis), a layer underneath (the dermis), and the innermost layer that contains a network of collagen fibers (the subcutaneous or fat layer). When the collagen in the dermis and subcutaneous layers breaks down due to age, dryness, and exposure to sun and wind, your skin begins to wrinkle and appear thinner. The Thermage device stimulates new collagen growth by safely heating lower layers of skin. Almost immediately, your skin will appear tighter, and will continue to look better as collagen builds up over the next few weeks.
What Does Hands by Thermage Treat?
This treatment is great for wrinkled or crepy hands, but unlike most treatments currently available, it doesn’t just target surface skin, which only offers short-term improvement in appearance of the hands. Instead, it restores collagen by stimulating the deepest layers of skin, creating long-lasting rejuvenated skin tone.
What Is Hands by Thermage Treatment Like?
In short, this treatment is very fast and easy and can be performed in an office setting by a trained professional. First, a topical cream is applied for a short time to desensitize and protect the skin. Then, the treatment device is slowly moved across your hands, focusing on areas that are most wrinkled. For most patients, the treatment itself lasts only about 20 minutes to an hour. Some patients ask for a light pain medication or sedative prior to the procedure, but in most cases these aren’t needed.
Does It Hurt and What Can Go Wrong?
Some patients report brief discomfort caused by the heat generated by radio waves as the Thermage device moves across their skin. Generally, you will experience no serious complications or side effects, though your hands may remain slightly red or swollen for a day or two. In rare cases following treatment, blisters, bumps and other surface irregularities may form, and you should contact your doctor for further treatment.
What Should I Expect from My Treatment?
Most patients see immediate improvement in the appearance of the skin on their hands. Your hands should continue to look better and better as more and more collagen builds up after treatment.
